A teacher asked her students, “If I give you 5 apples and you take away 2, how many apples do you have left?”

Little Johnny raised his hand. “Seven!”
The teacher smiled. “No, Johnny, that’s wrong. Think carefully. If I give you 5 apples and you take 2, how many are left?”

 


Johnny grinned. “Oh, I still have 5! I’m not giving them away!”
The teacher shook her head. “I should have known.”
